Gulls can reportedly detect that there’s food somewhere from more than three miles away. It is one of their survival mechanisms, and the sensitive nerve endings on their nostrils allow them to sniff out food in this manner. Fifty seagull species exist, and the most common are the yellow-legged, little gull, and herring gull.
